CHEAPER RIDES FOR FANS AS 13CABS CUTS FARES FOR FINALS WEEK

Whether you’re watching the AFL Grand Final at the MCG, cheering on the Broncos at Suncorp, or catching the big games from your favourite pub, getting there and back just got cheaper.

Australia’s largest taxi network, 13cabs, is giving passengers in Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland 20 per cent off booked fares from September 26 to October 6, timed to coincide with the AFL and NRL finals series.

This Saturday, September 27, the Brisbane Lions will meet Geelong in the AFL Grand Final at the MCG. Less than 24 hours later, the Brisbane Broncos face the Penrith Panthers in the NRL preliminary final at Suncorp Stadium, with the winner advancing to the NRL Grand Final in Sydney the following weekend.

With tens of thousands of fans heading to stadiums, pubs, clubs and private gatherings, the next fortnight is shaping up as one of the busiest periods on the roads this year.

Chief Operating Officer Olivia Barry (pictured) said the discount was aimed at helping Australians enjoy finals season safely and affordably.

“Finals footy is about mateship and community, and whether you’re heading to the ground, a mate’s place, or home after a big night, we want to make sure you can get there and back reliably, and at a better price,” Ms Barry said.

The company said every 13cabs trip is booked and tracked, with passengers shown a fixed fare in the app before they travel. Customers will need to enter the promo code 13FEVER in the app to access the discount.

Ms Barry said the discount also highlighted the company’s focus on passenger safety and driver professionalism.

“Our drivers are trained professionals who know their local communities inside out. They’re committed to making sure every ride is safe, fair and reliable, especially during one of the busiest times of the year on the roads,” she said.

The promotion is valid until October 6 and applies only to bookings made through the 13cabs app.
